--- title: "Quickstart" description: "Create a project key, install the plugin for your agent, connect it and check the connection." canonical: https://past.dev/docs/plugins/quickstart last-updated: 2026-10-12 --- # Quickstart > Create a project key, install the plugin for your agent, connect it and check the connection. Product: past.dev Plugins. Source: https://past.dev/docs/plugins/quickstart 1. Sign up at https://sso.past.dev/sign-up, then create a project key on the API keys screen of the console. 2. Install the plugin for your agent. The tabs below show the command for each one. 3. Connect the plugin to your project with the key and your identity. 4. Run the status command. It shows the project and the identity the plugin uses. 5. Optional: send the sessions that are already on this machine with the history command. ### Install **Claude Code** ```claudecode /plugin marketplace add pastdotdev/claude-code-plugin /plugin install past@past ``` **Codex** ```codex codex plugin marketplace add pastdotdev/codex-plugin codex plugin add past@past ``` **Cursor** ```cursor agent plugin marketplace add https://github.com/pastdotdev/cursor-plugin ``` **JetBrains** ```jetbrains Settings › Plugins › Marketplace › past.dev › Install ``` **Hermes** ```hermes pip install "git+https://github.com/pastdotdev/hermes-plugin" hermes config set memory.provider pastdotdev hermes pastdotdev setup ``` - Claude Code: run the two lines inside Claude Code. - Codex: run the two lines in a terminal. Then run `/hooks` in a Codex session and trust the five past.dev hooks. Codex runs no hook until you trust it. - Cursor: run the line in a terminal, or open Customize in Cursor and add a marketplace from GitHub with the source `pastdotdev/cursor-plugin`. Then install past.dev from it. - JetBrains: use a JetBrains IDE 2026.2 or later. - Hermes: run the lines in the Python environment that Hermes runs in. `hermes pastdotdev setup` asks for the key and the identity, so it also does the connect step. ### Connect and check **Claude Code** ```claudecode /past:connect /past:status ``` **Codex** ```codex $past:connect $past:status ``` **Cursor** ```cursor /past-connect /past-status ``` **JetBrains** ```jetbrains Settings › Tools › past.dev › API key, Identity, Send Junie's sessions ``` **Hermes** ```hermes hermes pastdotdev status ``` All plugins on one machine share one connection, in `~/.past/config.json`. If another past.dev plugin already connected this machine, the next plugin uses that connection and you can skip the connect step. [Configuration](/docs/plugins/configuration) describes the file.
